False Chanterelle (Sp?) is also said to make you trip though I havn't got much knowledge on it.
Try pressing the head of a mushroom face up on a piece of paper to take a "spore print", A very deep purple spore colour is a tell-tale sign of psilocybin. If the spores are white, tan, orange, etc then you almost certainly don't have the right mushies. If the spores are dark brown or black you might have the right ones.. look closer - deep purple is hard to see and can look black or brown.
You are right to be REAL careful when eating any wild mushrooms, there are many deadly ones and plenty that just give you horrible stomach cramps and nausea. There are antidotes if you act fast but the nasty effects can take upto 2 or 3 days to come on... by that time the antidote is usually useless. Mushroom poisoning is said to be a horrific death too.. be very careful!
PS - remember with psilocybes - once youre tripping... don't get hung up thinking about how you might have picked the wrong ones..
if youre tripping you must have got it right!
