British and Irish ancestors, all the same?

There's an interesting article in The New York Times about the origins of the population of the British Isles, suggesting they all pretty much come from the same genetic pool.
So what do you Brits make of it?

Some of us British are Irish:thumb:

However the British have a very mixed gene pool (though probably no more mixed than many). Even ignoring the fact that English, Scots, Welsh and Irish have been intermarrying for centuries we've also got a fair sprinkling of Celt, Norman (French Vikings), Germanic, some Italian etc, etc.

Yes, that's exactly what the article says, however, it also states that those genes don't make the majority of the gene pool of today's inhabitants. Not even the Saxons' and Angles', but the ancestors' (previous to the Celts) do.
