I used to love them, and deep-fried milky ways. They're very hard to describe, you can feel your arteries furring up immediately but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I guess they might be the kind of thing that either make you upchuck on the spot, or that you become perilously addicted to
I haven't exactlt got the bottle to walk into a chip shop with a mars bar and ask "will you deep fry this for me?" just in case they wont. is it true that they taste beefy because they fry them in beef fat?
Lovely.
I've just put the chip pan on :thumb:
If you want to get your local chippy to fry you one up then you might have to spend six months sweet talking one of the employees. When I lived in Lancaster I went through that dreadful experience myself! They definitely don't taste beefy 'round here, but my local doesn't fry in beef fat anyway. I imagine the blinding sweetness in addition to the greasiness would cancel out any meaty undertones anyway
my friends mum has a fish and chip shop :P
That is awsome and I am so jelous.
Do they batter things too?
I used to work in a chip shop, many moons ago, and we tried all sorts of things deep fried - even malteasers (they were fiddly!)
A deep-fried mars bar is a bit too much of a near-death experience for me. You can actually feel the grease clogging you up.
:yuck: I think they do deep frieds mras bars near where I live. Never had one though. The only deep friend things I've had are pineapple & banana. (not together though)
Deep fried mars bars are good, but you need to sit down afterwards because there is usually a period of shortness of breath.
They melt inside a bit but the batter protects them. However, cook them for too long then they totally melt and aren't as great. There is a knack.
I used to cook them when I worked in my chippie.
This is too much...
No they don't.
My mates say though they deep fry alot of stuff.
But hey, never tried one! (don't fancy trying one either)
talk about political correctness gone mad
Yeah, just like all Yorkshire people eat pies :yeees:
Oh come on, he has a point!
So the Scottish don't deep fry everything, but they certainly deep fry a disproportionate amount of things compared to other areas. In most of the chippys near me I can't even get a normal grilled burger because they're all deep fried. Pizza slices are almost always deep fried in chippys too. It's difficult to get normal sausages that haven't been battered and deep fryed. The list goes on.
If you want a normal burger/pizza you more often than not have to go to a kebab place.
