On average, your body needs approximately 5 - 9 hours sleep every 24 hours. Doctors recommend 8 hours. It doesn't matter whether you hit the sack during the day or night. What counts is that you establish a routine. This means going to bed at the same time, and waking up at a set time too. Get a pattern going, and your body clock will soon be setting itself.
To guarantee the shut-eye you so desperately need:
Avoid eating too much before you head for bed.
Steer clear of stimulants such as caffeine and nicotine.
Allow yourself wind down time between getting home and going to sleep.
Also make sure your bed itself is properly supported. A firm level mattress is essential, so stick a sheet of plywood underneath if necessary.
Don't use over-the-counter sleeping pills for more than 2 weeks as you can become dependent; consult your GP.
Use your bedroom for sleeping and sex only: that means no TV, no computer, no work.
Hope you get the shut eye you need!
If you are really suffering go see your GP or local pharmacist for some more advice on treatment, explain that you have exams.

Try putting a few drops of lavender oil on a tissue and keep it next to your pillow, or spray some linen spray onto your linen (you can get it in H&M for 99p, I bought some today!)
Also, don't watch TV directly before you go to sleep. Try to read a book until you feel sleepy.
Another thing, son't eat food in your room. It isn't feasible to not work or watch TV in there unless you own a mansion, but try to keep these areas of the room seperate.
Erm, you should also make sure your wallpaper is a relaxing colour, if it's red, you're never gonna get to sleep!
Try this website for some more info on insomnia. Its often best to address the cause, like your exams, than find a cure!
