I've had to buy for 8 people, so far I've spent about £250 and I still have a few bits left to get. Probably will work out about £320 spent in total, how about the rest of you?

I was impressed.
The boy spent over £200 just on me :grump:. I was not happy >.<.
I'd guess at around the £200 - £300 mark though. I have bought for about 30 people though.
I had to buy for probably about 20 people... I dont want to think about how much I've spent
Around £150 I'd say this year.
And got one or two bits more to get, so expected spend about £120
This covered 7 friends, my boyfriend, mum, dad, step dad, nan, other nan, sister, brother, sister in law. And cards for about 30 people.
£500.
... and that'd being conservative.
This year I've spent lots more on my family than on my friends, which is a first :-s
Besides, if it was about the money then I wouldn't do it.
It's never about the money...
...until you run out .
I always get nervous when we do a secret santa or when you know someone else is getting you a present, in case you get them a cheap little thing and they get you something amazing, I'd feel horrible. But I care too much about what other people think of me anyway
That's the thing, I don't buy for people I think of as just 'friends'. Sure, I have many friends, but they can no doubt expect a bottle of champagne/nice dinner from me. I just find gifts a bit 'ummm' at this stage, and I am honestly useless at buying... so much so I have used a personal shopper to help me before, just to no avail - as this method proved too impersonal.
I would like a lady I could treat as she deserved, being honest. I seem to find locating this a long time.
G.
I usually get my best friends presents though. This year I only started my christmas shopping well... today.
Being honest, this is tricky to answer as I'm am bit drunk... but, drunk - honest with me so...
By the way, just been informed two of my house mates just threw up. Nice - they're 27 and 35, so it doesn't be get better with age... Aye.
Right, back to the question. Tough one as you make things sound like what I spend falls into a template, of course... which it isn;t so straight forwards..?.
It's a bit difficult to explain... but I find shopping people very hard. In the end, i attempt to equalise costs for those I am buying for, but it isn't that simple. It works out to be a b it shallow that way.
This year, I paid for my mum to go to greece (I forget where...) for 2 weeks for her birthday, and also I loaned my brother £2,500 for a Mac Book Pro (although I haven't asked for it back...).
Little brother got a few toys etc... I dunno... This year I asked people what they wanted - stuff includes DVDs, books, computer games, clothes etc etc).
I bought 2 properties this year so am a bit broke as I took November and December off work as I'd had enough.
Forget the question... Jesus - drunk as hell last night.
ETA - Between 11 folk.
Still got some to do today then that's me! :yippe:
It's a lot cheaper being single!
