Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
So what are you having this year ?

Good ol' traditional for me.

Turkey or chicken crown (chestnut filo parcel for me), brussels with chestnuts and butter, roast potatoes, roast parsnips, carrots (maybe in sour cream and chives), chestnut stuffing ( homemade of course :) ) and Christmas pud ( though i did buy that :p ) Oooooo and proper gravy, not that shit made from granules :)

Tea will be chicken/turkey sarnies, pickles. Christmas cake and trifle.

I made an early one for my friend and housemate on Sunday (shame I was too ill in the end to eat it!)
    I made

    Buttereed turkey breast
    Yorkshire puddings
    Roast potatoes in thyme
    Mashed potato
    Pork, sage and onion stuffing
Brussels chopped and fried in butter with onion
    Cabbage
    Carrots
    Brocolli
    Devil's on horseback

    Gravy with the turkey juice.

It amazes me how some people have the skill, knowledge and patience to make a great roast dinner, from scratch then, ruin it with gravy granules.

    Pigs and blankets are lovellllyyy.

I am doing a silverside of beef for the non-veggies (that'd be everyone but me then) and I will probably whip myself up a vegetarian alternative that I haven't given any thought to yet.

    Other than that:

Potatoes - boiled, roast and mashed
    Roasted carrots and parsnips
    Turnip
    Broccoli
    Cauliflower
    Yorkshire puddings
    Pigs in blankets
    Chestnut stuffing
    Bread & cabbage stuffing balls
    Grav-eh.

For dessert I really want to have a bash at Nigella's Pomegranate Meringue Mountain :yum:, but in case that goes disastrously wrong we have Xmas pud and a Raspberry Pav too :D

We are having Capon, much much nicer than dry old Turkey.
I don't eat pork so my Mum makes 4 different kinds of stuffings.
I hope to persuade her to make yorkshire puddings, I love them.
All the veg, hopefully parsnips too.
Lots of booze (and I'm in charge of wine buying for Christmas dinner, not sure what kind to get though)
    Trifle for pudding.

    YUM

    It's probably already stuffed.

Can't see the point myself. But then I'm not a big fan of turkey.

Its an already cooked turkey crown, no feathers or anything. I cant stand turkey people make because I think its to dry, but this is nice.

I'm having a "traditional Christmas breakfast" at my aunties - if anyone wants to enlighten me as to what that is, then great :D

Then we're having a traditional Christmas dinner - turkey, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, yorkshire pudding, pigs in blankets (or the Devils on horseback as Vicky called them, not the US version) various veg - not sure what yet.

Then a nice buffet for tea, and hopefully some warm turkey sandwiches with my dad at 11:30pm for supper, because thats when he's officially off call and will sit and eat something that takes less than 2 minutes :D

I'm doing Prawn Cocktail for starter - but like a right posh one from a Martha Stewart book - as I dont' eat fish my mother in law is bringing me a suprise starter apparently.

Then a very expensive Organic Turkey (We've only paid the deposit so far and its £25), roasted sprouts, roasted spuds, and some vegetables I can't remember what I put on the list. Sausages and bacon and stuffing and proper gravey - i've even got some phesant stock to use but i'm not sure if it will go well with the turkey.

Then Christmas pudding and chocolate tart - mmmm

Oh I forgot starter! It's usually paté or soup. Might make some soup this year but then again it's so filling there's not much room for dinner.
