F@@K F**K!!!!!!!! :banghead:
I sence a big bollocking coming at work. I've been managing a project at work for the last couple of months. I ordered the last of the hardware begining of this week. Only to be told that theirs a 4-6wk delievery time.
The customer was orginally given a rough date of installation of week begining 28th Aug. Due to that kit not being ordered in time (wasn't told about the delievery time - but i'll still have a new arsehole ) and some other kit we ordered being delayed we cant do it till 2nd week in Sept now.
Spoke to the customer and he's since come back saying it has to be that week we orginally told them. I've spoken to our production department and theres nothing they can do to speed up the delievery of our kit.
This was my chance at proving i could manage projects.
i'm screwed. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Can you not pick it up yourself?
i currently am managing 25+ pub/hotel/airport/club lighting schemes and the only way to keep on top of it all is organisation. I like to get definate answers from suppliers before i inform on a delivery schedule. Then at least if the stuff isnt gonna arrive in time you know way ahead and clients generally take it a bit easier on ya.
cock up's happen, you just need to think of a solution. are there no other suppliers that can help you out? dont just think of existing suppliers, there are chances that someone else does the same stuff, fair enough you may need to pay on a proforma basis but it may get you out of your sticky situation.
i usually find its better to have a possible solution ready before i inform anyone about the problem.
if you need any tips or advice ask away!!!
project managing isnt fun.
One lot of kit cant be helped as the factory in sweden had problems. The other is stuff the our company makes in our office in St Petersburg, for some reason they only make the stuff when a order comes in. And dont carry any spare or warrenty stuff Which i find strange.
We've come up with a way round it. but it means me going up to Aberdeen twice (once week of 28th) then again when the rest of the kit turns up while i'm on holiday (but after i get back to work ofcourse).
Funny that isn't it.
