Hey there, it is probable that I have a form of epilepsy called Petit Mal - or Absences.

This is basically a temporary blank out where you are unaware of anything happenning.
When I get it, it is a funny feeling coming along, and I am still aware of things happenning, I just dont understand it. Like peoples speech. All your words, dont makes sense. They sound familiar, yet, I don't know what it is you are talking about.
When it happens, I cannot read either. I can see the words they are meant to be, but I cannot process the letters.
Like a temporary dyslexia.
e.g. I once read INSPIRE as INSCURY.
I only know this as a couple of friends were with me and I was like "what is that word? I-i-in-s-c ... insc-u-u-ry. Inscury? Inscury?"
When it passed, I said, "That's inspire! What'd I say?"
( I dont remember what it is I said or thought the word was or thought you said when it passes, and I find it difficult to talk)
Another example of what happened that I have record of :
I was sending a text to someone when i had one : (the crazy bit will be in bold)
"yep. you know where massey uni is? catch a number 11 two sections and get off there. tell me when youre on the bus and I'll caught but right you"
I was MEANT to say "come and meet you"
Now when i was texting, I knew it was happenning, yet, the words made sense, and at the same time, they didnt, but I thought that what I was texting was right.
So hmm.
I get tested next friday, and I guess I just wanna know if anyone has experienced this or know anyone who has it. Cool as
xoxo

I got tested with brain scan and something else(cant remember what its called). My brain twas normal from the tests, so was diagnosed with petit mal. Havent had one for about 4+year now, took medication for a few years, but i think ive just grown out of them..
EEG? (Think that's what it's called - the one where you are hooked up to a machine which records your brain activity)
I get this alot as well, but when I had an EEG done for epilepsy 5 and a half years ago, nothing like that was picked up.
Yup, pretty sure the one you're thinking of is an EEG. I had the same, referred by my psychiatrist when I was about 17, cause I had the same kind of symptoms, but it came back normal, so the doctor said it was probably a combination of my (then pretty extreme) anxiety, and me being 'just a little absent minded'. He's not wrong, either
I went through a time of having them up to 3 times a day, and just typical, that when I get appointments for specialists, they happen less often
So what happens in these scans?
Although if you are having one like this, you might want to take along a hat or hairband, cause you'll have a slight case of goo hair
Nail varnish remover works well, apparantely. It does wash out as well.
yes, sorry my mistake. *edits*
Will find out in a few weeks I guess
That crap (which is like sand) is 'glue'.
Then the nail polish remover burned my head a wee bit, as I have dermatitis on my scalp (its actually something called seriasus, but i don't know how to spell it )
Fun times!!
It doesn't have to have a massive impact on your life.
My brother has had to go through about7 different types to find one that controls his (he used to blank out and 'jerk' which was great fun
He's on topimax/topirate
As did I. And it's something I do an awful lot.
I'm on 3 tablets of Tegratol a day. I'm still having the seizures, though not as often... but theyve become more often again because of an emotional upheaval... may be put on different meds which will be great fun.
Bonus though, because of it ( and other factors), I got $3,500 scholarship to uni!!
yay!!!
