Community Redesign

As some of you will remember we're currently going through the process of redesigning the community section of the website (No more grey!, No more grey!) and hopefully you'll all be happy to know we've now picked a design company based on a series of pitches.

The company is Glass.

They provided a series of designs as part of their pitch, each moving away a little further from our current look.

I thought it'd be interesting for you to see what those designs looked like, though bear in mind a couple of factors - a lot of stock images were used (so some people look way too young) and this is only a pitch design, so the final design will be developed much further.

The design we're focusing on developing is number 5 by the way.

    I prefer design 2, it is clean, punchy and uncluttered, and not as ghetto as some of the other designs.

    I can't say I like 4 and 5... 2 looks the best to me.

    3 4 and 5 are good, 5 sort of has a bit too much going on in one page, but im sure it will still look great.

    I like 2,3 and 4.

    Number 5 has too much of a travelling youth theatre vibe for me.

    I think the top navigation could have be redesign as well tho, doesn't really go with any of the designs of the content part...

    It's worth bearing in mind that although we're going with design 5, we'll be using images of peoples faces, real people, rather than the current stock image being used on design 4 and 5 - you'll see what I mean

    It's definetely got to be number 2 Jim. 3, 4 & 5 have way too much going on in them and 1 just doesnt look very appealing at all.

    2 has a nic ecolour scheme pleasing to the eye [not to bright not to dark] not " in you're face " like the other's.

    Yeah they do - don't worry there won't be any images like that in the final design ;)

    And as we said, in the intial post the designs based on the fifth design, the second just did nothing at all for us, not to mention being very blocky.

    The final design will of course be a long way from the intial pitch

    i quite like the design of no 2 and 4, although 4 + 5 are quite similar i suppose

    I think no 2 and 5 are the best. As you are going for number 5, I think it is a bit too 'kiddy' for the 16-24 age group you are aiming at.

    I reckon once you get older people in the photos it'll look like the average student union website (but much better obviously).

    I like 3 and 5.
    Although, 5... the color is ok, but what's with the inverted blood dripping on the wall thing below the toolbar...that's what it looks like to me.

    Otherwise it looks busy and active, which is sehr gut!!

    We don't find them, the agency does for the pitch so it'll be from one of the big image bank companies
