This is more of a general advice (meaning that it might help or it might not) but try scanning while windows is in safe mode.
I don't know that virus or how avg works, hopefully someone else will.

Can you give us the name of the virus? Or do you think you can remove it manually? Have you updated your anti-virus?

So, what happens when you try to delete that file?

Ok being dense, i thought avg deleted it for you but it appears not. Just deleted and running avg again to see if its gone.

Yep what I was going to suggest...

If it is in use it will refuse tho, but if it is the case you can check the task manager to see if there is a process of the same name running, and then shut it down and try to delete it again...

To launc the task manager either:

right click on taskbar and click task manager in the menu

    or

in the start menu, click on run, then type taskmgr + enter

On the task manager click the tag processes and look if you can find it in the list, then select it and click End Process...

Well, I don't have AVG, my anti-virus does delete it for me, but sometimes it fails so I have to do it manually.

Just FYI you should be completely safe. Basically what's happened is someone's gone on a website with Java content and when it's downloaded the stuff automatically a virus has been bundled with it. However, it's as easy to clear it as it is to delete temp internet files.

Microsoft used to have it's own Java thing that would open the virus, but most computes have sun java on now, as MS no longer bundles it.

Just some steps to make sure you're safe:
    start
    control panel
    double click the Java icon
at the bottom click 'delete files'
    click ok

    and you're done. :thumb:

I've only had 1 virus on this computer and it was in the same way. Just some sad net kiddies bundling viruses with java applets, but now because software developers know about it unless you have a seriously out of date system then it can't do anything.
