skirts and trainers

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Its beginning to get really hot and sometimes i'd like to wear a skirt in the summer rather than boyish shorts all the time

However, i only own trainers. I pair of chunky vans, and a pair of the shoe type converse

Will i look stupid for wearing skirts with trainers?

And is there any particular type of skirt which will look better? I cant imagine that longer skirts would look good but i dont know...im not really into wearing skirts too high above the knee

    ok would something like this
    13792_default_m.jpg
    or this
    12406_default_m.jpg
    look ok with these trainers
    1900376150_exlg.jpg
    ?

and would i need to wear a non girly top to equal it out a little to suit the trainers? Like a fitted band tee or something?

Or do i need to go for a shorter skirt like this
    12442_default_m.jpg

Or does it all look completely naff?

I think those pictures you posted would look good really good as outfits. With a fairly plain, androgynous top if you get my meaning.

The skirt I usually wear with trainers is a long denim one which pretty much covers them... though I can get away with Vans then. Not exactly great for summer though, of course.

My trainers for all other skirts are a pair of backless converse which looks seriously good (even if I do say so myself) and I wear them with dresses/short skirts/long skirts/froofy-ra-ra skirts and the lot. If you get an adaptable and fairly "slim" pair of trainers then you can wear them with any skirt really... at least that's what I reckon ;)

What you should really wear those skirts with are trainers and white socks.

    Tres chic.

Why not buy some cheap flip flops as an alternative to trainers? You can get them for a couple of quid from H&M type places.

can never seem to find a pair that fit unfortunatly, they always seem to cut my feet up and give me blisters

Im still on a search for some though! i do love trainers though, and flip flops arent very good if im going to be doing active things, they fall off

What about this kind of sandal?

Just a suggestion, I find them really comfy.

tried a pair of those on before but i have really flat feet so they dont stay on, even when tightened!

    dam my feet

i think the combos you posted would look nice with a plain coloured t-shirt or thick-strapped vest.

    that first skirt is gawwwgeous.

i don't think a skirt with trainers would look right but each to their own. it's how you feel comfortable/look nice.

I think those skirts and big skate trainers go really well together- it's not like you're going to wear a pair of pink sparkley kitten heels with them...

The first skirt is ace- want it!

maybe trainers will be too hot for the summer?

id go for chunky sandals. Mine are these but in brown instead of pink:

Or, if you don't want sandals, you could try some of the ones on here:

    http://www.schuhstore.co.uk/female_main_frameset.html

    Like http://www.schuhstore.co.uk/item_frameset.asp?s_ref=130231 maybe.

    Although perhaps cheaper alternatives :p.

i still maintain that it is.

i like the look, and even if i didn't, you can't please everyone, and i see FAR sillier outfits walking about leeds and thinking they're the dog's.

Those skirts would look adorable with lowtop Chucks (Converses). You can rock the lowtops with cute boy shorts too, but remember to wear them with low cut socks ..

The only footwear I think are NOT suitable with a skirt, are trainers. No matter how 'cute' they may be, I think they look awful.
Flip flops and sandals yes. Trainers NO. (and certainly not Converse). (IMO).
