Can we get a definitive explanation as to what each is? And, if there are some other similar terms, feel free to throw them in there. Thanks.

Well, it is in America. Very true.
Also add fella.
Bloke = ummm male!
Mate = Is probably the most common one... i.e hello mate!
Chap = ummm... no... just no!
Geezer = I dunno if its used much around the contry, quite Londony (YES, thats a word!!) I use it some times... i.e alright geeza!
Bruv = Similar to mate
Fella = ditto
Who you calling old .. :razz:
Your name makes me think of a sugardaddy(grandpa) like Mr. J. Howard Marshall
Someone mentioned that 'chaps' are posh, true, but I've used it in a similar fashion to 'geezer' a few times.
geezer is what cockneys say.
chap sounds a bit posh to me.
i use bloke if im talking about a randomer.
ie "why hello there old chap!" following by a playful punch on shoulder, and said in a piss take posh voice.
Not sure what any of them mean, pretty much the same.
I love that word. Dandy
I'm gonna call everyone dandy chaps now.
Yeah, thats quite a common one round here!
Erm, yeah. Apart from that everyone is either 'bloke' or 'blokey', except the boys downstairs who are always referred to as 'the boys downstairs' much to their disgust. Which is of course why we do it
Mate = Pretty much everyone
Chap = When talking down to someone
Geezer = Dodgy person or 'a bit of a lad'
etc = used to imply there is more information that is not listed.
Me and my Bangladeshi mate in the office call each other chief a lot :yes:
Chief or boss is what you are normlly called before some cowboy builder is about to rip you off.
I call my mates chief or boss sometimes...
it just sounds odd
unless im talking about someone, sayingthey are an alright bloke or something like that
"Alrite boss what's the craic"-usually use boss for a stranger or someone you don't know too well
"alrite mucker"-use that talking to mate in a joking way
"alrite ba"-same as mate
"alrite ya mad cunt"-same as mate
