Just found out it's Jack Johnson's Birthday today (although only 25 mins left of it)!!!! He's 31 today so:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACK!
Looks good for his age I'd say.

Hands Off!!
Lol!
He's not that bad...
True.
I wouldnt say completley talentless, however thats if you compare him to James 'iv got the most hitable face in the world' Blunt. Ok for background music but other than that its just like every other bit of wet drivel thats trying to be cool and failing miserably!
Rant over
Everyone at my school adores that kinda surfy mellow tripe .
he's made some fantastic surf films, he a superb surfer, and his songs although basic in guitar skill the songs sound brilliant and live he was fantastic!
not knock a legend
filthychav, thunderstruck and blagsta, how many films and albums have you released? can u surf?
talentless my arse!
variety is the spice of life
I haven't heard his whole album, but I'd imagine it wouldn't be massively different from the singles which were, IMO, boring as hell.
So, in conclusion - boring as hell.
I wouldn't exactly describe myself as a "whiny cunt" either.
When people like Seth Lakeman and Tom McRae don't get a look in because of these cunts, you know that the world has genuinely gone mad.
I think Blagsta's assessment is about right.
Guilty pleasure maybe but I am into proper music - small gigs, dank clubs, 4 quid on the door, watered down beer, graffiti on the walls etc. etc
I'm not deleting the albums from my iPod though.
(notetoself - Better not start a thread on the Dirty Pretty Things album)
jack johnson is a proactive supporter or the environment instead of james blunt psuedo-poltical ramblings because war influenced his song about a beautiful woman. :banghead:
jack johnson is part of 'one percent of the planet' so some of his profits from bushfire records (the record label he help set).
so hes a nice guy.
But I like Neil Young, so some whiney gits are alright.
I thought about that, then thought better of it..
I wasn't too disapointed though! Seeing them 3 times next week!
What the fuck has "nice" got to do with anything? He could be the most charitable, socially conscious guy in the world and it still wouldn't change the fact that he and his music and (as Bri said) boring as hell. I loathe James Blunt, but that opinion wasn't influenced by any charitable works he does or doesn't do so neither should it influence my opinion of Jack Johnson. Oh, but while we're on the topic - far greater singer songwriters than JJ do charitable work and are immensely socially aware, and largely on the down low, too
I don't think there's any soul to his music, I can't believe I'm actually commenting on him because his music is far too inconsequential to merit it.
But yeah, diff'rent strokes and all that.
Oh, and subject13, the Futurama candidates are always the first thing that pops into my head at the mention of Jack Johnson. They're about as wishy-washy as the man himself
