    If you need to spit, do it on a patch of dirt or something, unless there's only asphalt and/or pavement around, in which case do it anywhere.
    But what annoys me is the people (usually male teenagers) who spit around just to show they're "tough" or something.

    I agree with that, it's just that when you need to you should be able to...

    And of course I don't sit and keep spitting just to look cool and make a pile on the floor...

    Spitting is vile. I have a pretty much constant chest infection so am always coughing up, but I never do it anywhere other than in a tissue.

    eww it is indeed very gross. Fair enough if people spit in there own home, down the loo or whatever. But in the middle of the street or just generally in a public place it is horrible. Pretty damn disrespectful to be honest. Usually it's the chav/gangsta types who do it. They probably think they are cool or something...

    I have a problem with my sinuses and smoke too much so am rather phlegmy. Never spit in the street, on a grass verge sometimes (never in front of anyone tho) normally just into a tissue. But mine is vile. :p

    Spitting saliva is not wrong by far, just kind of nasty to see a pile of bubbly spit on the ground. Spitting in grass is fine, just not on pavement for the sake of others shoes.

    If your sick though and your throat is filled with phlem and snot, if you don't spit it and rather sit there and swallow it, thats just vile. Then you *need* to spit.

    I've never felt the need to spit in the street while walking or standing around. If you have phlegm hock it up in a tissue. There's no need to inflict it on the world and spread T.B or owt..

    ive changed my mind,anyone caught spitting should be thrashed to death with a rubber hose on sight! then dismembered,and the body parts kicked all over the street!

    They never give you enough water to rinse, do they. When they do that little nasty gritty tooth polishing thing, when they do fillings, never enough water. Then they floride you so you can't go home and rinse the rest away anyways!

    spitting is disgusting....it's usually chavs strutting down the street who do it too.....from what i've seen anyway
