I agree with Amélie, Princess Mononoke, Amores Perros

Then I really love Blynkende Lygter (Danish) and although 'critics' usually disagree with me, I really enjoyed watching Brotherhood of the Wolf (Le Pacte Des Loups).

There's something I've seen recently that I thoruoghly liked, but I can't place it at this moment. Maybe it'll come to me.

Battleship Potemkin by one of the best directors of all time, Sergei Eisenstein
Y Tu Mama Tambien is quality
La Haine (which along with the above has also been mentioned)
    Ciudade de Deus (ditto)
Jean De Florette (how can anyone NOT love this film?)
    La Bataille D'Algers
Taxi (French version, not the shit American one)
    Das Boot

    The list is endless...

The quiet family (a korean film) was very good. Amelie was lovely, and house of flying daggers, i adore!

Hey, Jim, I saw the Silences of the Palace! It was very lucky indeed, I had looked for it in video/dvd renting stores but they didn't have it. I had given up when, out of the blue, the programme to a little cinema festival came into my hands, featuring Silences of the Palace (among others). It was only showing two days this week.

Very beautiful indeed, unfortunately the copy was in a very bad state, so the colours looked washed-up, couldn't appreciate them much. Very powerful film though, I especially liked the use of music and song in it. Thanks! :D

Hotaro No Haka (Grave of The Fireflies)
    ...and...
A Swedish(?) film I randomly went to see with a friend. It was a case of, "There's nothing on. Lets go see the film neither of us has ever heard of." We didnt realise it was foreign until it started and we wondered why we couldn't understand it.
I think it was called Evil.
It was about some kid whos sent to boarding school because he's too violent. It was really good.
