Smoothie ingredients?

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
I recently got into making smoothies to help me reach my 5-a-day of fruit and veg. I haven't got a proper machine, I just use a blender and mush it up that way :thumb:

The one I'm drinking at the moment has: 3 bananas, 2 apples, 1 mango, 1 can of blackcurrants and some apple juice. It's rather tasty :yum:

So what is the recipe for your ideal smoothie?

You should try the mango, it seems to make it a lot smoother. Yummy!

you can get tinned strawberies in fruit juce, obviously not as good for you as the real thing but taste just as nice and count towards your 5 a day.

we use them instead of real ones at work in the cocktails as its cheaper

in answer to the op's question, strawberry, peach, grapefruit juice and loads of ice is really nice

A great idea i intend to go home and make one, but i thought milk was part of the ingredients or is it ice cream?

You can use it but don't have to. If you want it to be healthy then ice cream isn't really an option! I didn't use milk because I don't think it will last as long before going off?

    ^^

It can be. Depends what you fancy. You might use milk/ice cream/cream with bananas etc but not with citrus fruits etc. At least I wouldn't, surely it'd curdle. :yuck:

Like I said, I use yoghurt. You can make up your own rules...I quite fancy one now!

1 or 2 bananas depending on what you like
Tub of vanilla muller yogurt/natural greek yogurt
Splash of milk if you want
    Honey

That's what I make. Just chuck whatever you want in. Usually you can't go wrong if it's all fruit you like :)

    did you know?

you are supposed to put it in yoghurt or milk ...or dilute with water if your consuming like three banans two apples plus even more fruit ...in one go.
otherwise you are putting a huge strain on your internals.

I wouldn't drink all that in one go! Over a few days perhaps.

I haven't really got any citrus stuff, but I'll get some next time :thumb: Waiting for the rest of my mangos to ripen, but it's so cold it's taking ages :(
