Why do people sign their posts with their names? Do we not know who you are by the name on the post?

    I've not noticed people doing it, although I will from time to time to "put my name to it" - to show I've put more thought than usual into what I've written.

    Loads of newbies do it too. I find it really funny when they use a real name for their ID and then sign off with their name too.

    I have to admit I don't know why people do that. They might think it makes them seem cooler, or perhaps can't differentiate between posting on a message board and writing a formal letter.

    I guess sometimes it's because you want what you write to read like more of a personal letter than a random post.

    If you send a text message do you put your name on it?

    What about writing a note to a friend?

    Or writing a PM?

    If I'm replying to a post that needs a personal touch then I'll put KHSS or whatever, but for every single post it's really annoying!

    Yes, I think that's it... it's the personal touch that it adds to the post. Sometimes when you are talking to somebody about a more serious problem it just seems like the appropriate way to end a post.
