Then they can waste the manhours and the tax money on more administration!
I've met prostitutes in a very different context to you (I don't really want to go into the details because it's confidential stuff that I've been involved with, trying to help prosititutes) and every single one has been a victim to some extent.
Often you can't tell what prostitutes feel because they block their own emotions from themselves and from others, they may seem "happy" when they aren't.
Almost every prostitute has been the victim of sexual abuse in their past. I don't see how a client would know for a fact that they hadn't been, it's not something people generally discuss.
Is this thread about "other jobs"?
You don't, however, have any rights if you willingly have sex with a client and then he doesn't pay you.
Not all women are forced into prostitution, prostitutes don't just work on the street. Escorts normally provide extra services.
Prostitution should be legalised for the people performing it. It should no longer be illegal to work as a prostitute. It should remain illegal to procure a prostitute, and it should remain illegal to live off immoral earnings as a pimp or brothel owner.
I think relaxing the law against prostitutes would help these women, but relaxing the laws against pimps wouldn't.
well they certainly haven't figured it out with regards to the drugs trade yet so don't hold your breath........
i can't say i know any prostitutes personally and i don't think you can make any conclusions from a few documentaries, like i say what i saw in amsterdam leads me to believe that legalisation will lead to a general acceptance that it's okay to pay for sex, no more unusual than going to the market for your groceries.......i don't, i think it's symptomatic of the wider problem we have in western society where people find it harder and harder to communicate meaningfully with the opposite sex, so instead of pursuing a loving relationship they go straight for the instant gratification, it's much the same in other aspects of our society if you look around......
interesting that nobody's confessed to their personal stance i.e. whether they would pay for it, or offer their body for a price, maybe i should have posted an anonymous poll......only fair i answer my own question i suppose, i think it's quite easy to judge from a distance but when your confronted with it it's another story....if i'm honest the thought did cross my mind for a while when i was staring at these incredibly georgeous girls (in my defence i was quite high and on mushrooms lol), and a fair few of my friends jumped straight in there, but i think if i had i would be ashamed of myself, so i'm glad i didn't, went and got stoned instead hehe........as for selling my body, well i think everybody has their price that's all i say, not sure what mine would be........what's that film where that bird has a one night stand with that sleaze for a million dollars.....
I don't think its about people finding it "increasingly hard" to have relationships, because prostitution has always been there. Prostitution tends to be more prevalent where there are no communities and no relationships though, such as in war time. It can, and does, act as a poor substitute for love and human interaction. I don't think its any more common that at any other time in the past, but it does concern me that it's becoming more acceptable and accepted.
not for a million dollars kermit?.......
well that's exactly my point, with 1 in 10 of us blokes paying for sex it has never been more prevalent but we're not at war are we? the trend is rising, it is considered acceptable to go out and buy a shag......so what do you put it down to if not a lack of understanding between the sexes?.....
ETA: i never said it was increasingly hard to have a relationship, just to find a satisfying and meaningful one, look at the divorce rates......i said it was a basic problem of communication.....
I blame Pretty Woman.
Certainly not but the impression I'm getting from some of the posts here is that prostitution is seemingly 'unique' in the way that all involved in the trade are 'victims'.
The state has no place legislating on issues between two consenting adults.
Would I be naive in suggesting that those who are as unhappy as you suggest and aren't being held against their will could simply just leave the 'profession'?
So you don't think that selling sex is different to selling your labour? I know that Mark Stewart sang "We are all Prostitutes" back in 79 and I'd agree with that to a certain extent, but I think that sex is different to bricklaying, computer programming, working on a checkout etc. I don't think you need to be a genius to work out why.
Yep, very naive.
I'm not disagreeing with you expand on why you think they couldn't do what I suggested? I admit I don't personally know any prostitutes (maybe I do and the keep it a secret?) so I don't know their backgrounds but I'd like to know more.
Dissociation is the real danger. It doesn't just apply to prostitution although because of the sexual element it's a special case (obviously), lots of other types of workers have to seperate themselves from what they do just to be able to do the job.
I think you need to be careful because while I wouldnt see prostitution as a on overall great or glamourous profession, you have to establish what your problem with it is. Its it what comes with it, in which case legalisation would help reduce that greatly or the money transfer, or the fatc its women having sex with men? I mean if a girl goes out every week and shags a random bloke or more, never really engaging in convoersation, not seeing them again, literally just a an hou ror more of pure sex, then whats the difference? If its the sex your against then you would also be against this kind of behaviour and you can't make casual sex illegal.
I personaly think they should crack down on pimps and those that run forced sex workers, but legitmnate brothel owners who provide a safe place of work and support their workers then I don't think they should be punished.
the junky ones the desperate ones the enslaved to violent pimp ones. the high class high earner ones.
the happiest and most balanced were the high class and those who did it to pay the bills.
sure beats working was often heard.
many of the girls who paid the bills this way ...earned more than the factory girls ...factory girls who would be fACTORY GIRLS FOREVER.OOPS.
doing it to pay the bills more often than not gave them a higher standard of living. some of them had happy marriages and stable families.
some would supply old geezers with hand jobs only and earn in a day what a factory girl could earn in a week.
of course theres doom and gloom and desperation in such a trade but ...as usual... the ones who see themselves as more politicaly aware than lesser mortals ...see doom and gloom in exagerated numbers.
what skills and talents are you talking about blag ...packing ...sewing ...picking potatoes?
but then i wouldn't want any of my sons to be coppers either.
Why not? If its as harmless and as good a way to make money as you say? Don't you want your daughter to be happy, well balanced and have a high standard of living?
for many women for many generations it has been ok.
obviously not for all women ...which i think my post makes pretty clear.
how about you answer the question ...the question prompted by you ..."what skills and talents are you talking about blag ...packing ...sewing ...picking potatoes"?
Yeah I did read your post. "for many women for many generations it has been ok."
Yes, this is my point. Don't you see anything wrong with society where the only skills a woman has is to sell her cunt?
stop behaving as if it's new!
we have never come anywhere near solving these problems ...never will.
lets learn to live with ourselves and the realities and limitations we have instead.
If theres a solution, it's at that end of the scale.
Women have more choice and power in the sexual sphere though, so it's unlikely for that to happen.
prostitution has always been with us ...always will be.
if you see this as a problem ...then i think you should accept that all the social engineering in the world has failed ...along with religion.
after thousands of years ...we have changed nothing about humans.
it's time we started learning to live with it ...that is ...live with our faults and failings.
we cannot change human behaviour ...want a link?
read the last few thousand years of history.
all these attempts at change ...fail because they are attempts to control the uncontrolable.
until we all have digital implants of course.
so ...we need to learn how to live with each other and ourselves instead of keep on failing to change human nature.
as for my feelings toward blag ...find one person out of all the people on this site i sent new years wishes to ...and there is only one.
no it wasn't a piss take.
