Hiya, last year i got bought a massage at a health clinic place & this saturday we are finnaly going however...
They asked if either of us were taking any tablets for eg high Blood pressure and i said yes my mum & they said she would need to get a doctors note things to say its ok for her to go. They never sent the form & i have only just remembered so its gonna be too late.
My question is, surely having a massage makes no difference if someone has high bp? I am assuming that this is only because we are able to use al the facilitys there eg Gym swimming etc.
Does anyone know any reason why it would not be safe for her to have the massage? I'm hoping its ok & we just won't mention it but i wanna be safe.
Hope this makes sense...

Best ring up the massage place. It's only Wednesday today
Her doctor won't get it done by saturday though. they are crap
I think it's routine - massage can affect blood pressure, oils and things they use can cause allergic reactions etc.

Be thankful that they are being cautious with ya, it'll scare ya the amount of therapists that don't even go though a medical history with ya before getting your treatment.
There are certain things they have to be careful about because they can affect the person having the treatment, this either means they can't carry out the treatment or just have to be extra causious and in those cases they will usually as a GP for permission to do it.
I don't see why they couldn't get your mum to sign something saying she was happy to go ahead without a doctors note and if she felt dodgy afterwards wouldn't blame them for it though.
And I don't see why if she's on medication it's a problem... it'd be more likely to be a problem if she wasn't being treated for her blood pressure.
I know when we did facial massage we would advise the client not to do exercise and whatnot for at least 24 hours, and i assume it'll be the same when I study massage. I think the two tings, although you'd think they were related aren't. baffling really.
I do know that any form of massage causes increased blood circulation and this may be why they need you to check with your doctor. There are certain things therapists etc cannot do if you are suffering with what is known as a 'contra-indication' partly, yes to cover their back but also so it doesn't cause a risk for the client.
Your local college may have a training salon. Ridiculously cheap, same quality and results you would get in a high street salon, your just paying less becaus eyou are in efect their model. Therapy students have to be assessed on members of the public but will have been fully trained before hand so don't be scared.
are their specialist college's or just any college will have the course? any idea on how to get one of these cheap massages? who I contatc etc?
try any of the colleges, see if they have a beauty department, ask for prices for treatments...
