I just found this site - a bit slow but really detailed
http://www.transportdirect.co.uk
Anyone got any other sites, in particular perhaps ones for charter flights to anywhere in the world that have space going?

From my old work it had it as a five minute to walk to the nearest Metro station, which was about 1/4 mile away. Great. If I was Jesus- the 1/4 mile was all a tidal estuary. Erm.
For domestic public transport the best is Traveline.
A local journey planner is best for local journey's, otherwise Traveline is pretty good, for one mode on transport its usually best to stick to the 'specialist'.
Another useful site for London is
http://alerts.tfl.gov.uk/
send free SMS text message to your phoen if there is a problem on your usual route home.
Multimap is a bit easier to use, but the maps aren't always up to date (they still haven't got the completed M60 ring road around manchester for some journeys!!!
Traveline is good for public transport, as pointed out previously.
It still thinks I can walk on water though...
Maybe the site is trying to tell you something :chin:
For journeys by car, around most of Europe, check out www.viamichellin.com I used it to get to a tiny fishing villiage in Portugal earlier this year.
Multimap however, once gave me directions around scotland when i put in a birmingham postcode. Hm.
