I've applied for it, however when I logged in to my Kingston account I've been put down for having dyslexia when i don't, I have dyspraxia, which is different.
Anyway, my main concern is that whilst I have applied for help waaaay back in spring I haven't heard anything. Also, all the people I know in uni only received any kind of support and their equipment in May, when their course was pretty much over for the first year. Do all people have to wait that long or is it just my shitty council?
It's not like I can't do any work or that I'm retarded, I'd just really appreciate help with certain areas. Also, I applied for my loan all the way back then and haven't heard anything for months... No conformation or anything. I've been chasing them up but they keep on saying that staff are on holiday or that letters are in the process of being sent. Should I be concerned?

As it goes, have you had your needs assessment for equipment yet? If you haven't you need it and need it now. If you have, it doesn't matter what you're down with, because the equipment you need is already prescribed (as it were). Anyway, as I say, stop wasting time, and start causing some trouble.
Answer the following,
Have you got a certificate of disability?
if yes
Have you had an assesment of need?
if yes
Have you recieved the report of recommendations?
if yes
Have you contacted the supplier?
If you have answered no to any of the above, then give me a shout, and I'll tell you how to do it.
I haven't done any of the others... basically I applied in spring and every time I go back either somebody is on holiday or they're working on it. I have had an assessment done by an educational psychologist in the Dyscovery centre that hightlights good and bad points though.
How long did it take them to do stuff for you?
Ring them, and ask them for the phone number for your nearest assessment centre, or the central office number, so that you can find out the place near you to go to get an assessment of need, to find out what stuff you have to have to be able to do uni.
When you've done that, send the invoice with a cover note to your LEA.
They don't give a crap about you, they will fob you off as much as they can. All council workers are the same, they will fob you off instead of helping you. It's their job.
You have to make it that it is easier for them to give you the help than it is to keep fobbing you off. Make them care, get in their hair, cause a scene. They won't care unless you hassle them so much that they are desperate to get rid of you.
Just nothing on disability stuff.
At least they said sorry.
what sort of dyspraxia do you have and how did you get diagnosed?
Its just I strongly suspect my son could be dyspraxic and am waiting to see the clinic about it, but I hear it is really difficult to diagnose.
Thanks for all for your help. I have been told that Wrexham LEA is very quick and I should have my equipment by the end of October (lol yeah right).
