Just an interest thing. Who do you think gives the best advice on these boards? Someone who regularly posts and who can appreciate any praise we may give them.
My vote would go to derby_county for the guys and Chica for the girls (although j9j9 comes a close second). Thanx you two.
And thanx to everyone else who gives useful advice.

However, I think praise really should be given to those people who have the courage to actually use this forum to post their problems, knowing that because of all the kind, caring and decent contributors, they are safe to do so.
Thesite is a fantastic forum for people to discuss issues that are troubling them. With the exception of a few sad individuals (you all know who!), the answers that are given show that the regular contributors are all extremely mature, very caring & genuine.
I would say the contributions of Caliph, Chica, Sarah 21, j9j9, Bluett, GwaiMui and helly are all excellent, as are the recent postings of beetle wings. (Sorry if I have forgotten anyone)
On a personal note, I really appreciate the kind comments that have been made about my own contribution. I have only been posting a month or so, and really stumbled accross the site by accident (that rubbish News of the World article). But this has become a real favourite of mine.
Beetle Wings is very intuitive when she mentions about being a counsellor. I am a psychiatric nurse (RMN), however, I am now disabled and practically housebound.
So I must admit I feel a sense of satisfaction if in some small way I am still helping people.
take care,
regards derby.
It took me a while to realise that it was a site for young adults, but when I did I thought, "oh dear, I really shouldn't be here, being as I'm so old" <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/smile.gif"> .
I'm glad I stayed now, apart from trying to help and asking a few questions of my own, these boards have given me an excellent insight on what my kids will be doing at a far younger age than I did (in some cases) & what is likely to worry them etc etc.
I really feal like part of a virtual community, 'specially after reading these posts.
Go on, ask me another (lol)
Today is a good day.

Me, boasting, huh, don't know how you figure, just saying that people who talk from experience are better advisers IMHO. Perhaps Im a little proud of my experience in the field but if I really wanted to brag theres some stuff I could tell you but I won't.
I think that everyone that has used this board and have been open minded and not too judgmental have made the best advisors.
I think this board is great for young people who need to look to someone with more experience or knowledge of the world and life for advice. It would just be nicer if some members were more understanding and less critical of other people's problems and opinions.
The two most controversial subjects on these boards seem to always be regarding people's dislike of homosexuality and drug-taking. These are issues that we should be discussing in a mature manner, not going round the boards saying that other people are losers because they are gay or because they do drugs. If people don't understand these issues they should simply ask people that are in the position of knowing.
I think that from now on, if we find someone's comments too offensive we should simply ignore them. It has turned out that certain far-fetched homophobic comments on this board recently have been a hoax. This is another very good reason why we should ignore far-fetched, offensive posts.
I am babbling a bit now so I'll leave it there.
Anyway, Derby County I have always wanted to ask > is that your team? I used to live in Derby myself.
You are absolutely right GwaiMui. Trolls hate being ignored, and soon leave when they don't get the response they so obviously crave.
How did you know they were hoax comments?
Keep up the good work

He seemed like a nice lad and then I started to suspect that he might be 'Blood Golem'. It wasn't because he was horrible in any way, he actually took the mickey out of Blood Golem and his crazy views.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, I had my suspicions so I confronted him and he admitted it. He started telling me his problems (split personality, etc). I found this out shortly after he had been banned from the boards.
He actually doesn't believe all of those far-fetched opinions that he wrote as Blood Golem and when he is acting his 'usual' self, he is very nice and polite.
I didn't mention this before because I didn't know whether it was the right thing to do. I did ask some other members of this board through email but I was ignored.
This should be enough to make people realise that we should ignore some 'crazy' posts from new posters that we have not built up any trust with.
He may have been crying for help and I have answered his emails, but that is all I can really do. I am not a doctor or a counsellor. He knows he is strange but in some ways I think he likes being like this way.
So the best way we can unite is to be kind to everyone on the boards, even when they say stupid things. They are obviously looking for attention and they are getting a buzz evertime we bite.
They will soon get bored with no response and just leave and we don't need to waste time making our fingers work hard to type responses to them.
im glad i came across this site, i was kinda nervous at first to post, but now i feel i neednt worry as much as i can turn 2 u lot who will provide me with reassuring advice.
b good
love ya lots like jelly tots love helly

as i havew stated before, i feel that i hae something to give back t people who may be going though the same kind of shit that i went through as a kid(no offence meant). I have had more than my fair share of bad moments ( maybe ill post and try to sort some of them out) and so i kinda know what people go thru. This is the best site i have seen in a long time, and is now my homepage!!
Gwai Mui - you are the best on the boards by far!!!
To be honest, I've been feeling a bit down in the dumps the last few weeks so hearing things like this helps a lot. Its really nice to be appreciated, I want to cry now!
Love and Peace,
GwaiMui.
PS. I think everyone on this board makes it the brilliant environment that it is and I wish I had something like this when I was a kid. I guess I would've done a lot of things differently but then everthing I got up to in my teens does make me who I am today and I'm not too bad!
Keep up the good work everyone.
