I have to perform one song for the head of the music department in my new school, and i really don't know what to do.
Needs to be rocky ish, no swearing and other stuff i.e. no songs about oding or slitting wrists, not too hard and preferably with a backing track.
any ideas?
Plus
I have to write a song lyrics and all for her as well, the lyrics aren't too hard for me but the writting out the melody line could be, anyone who is really good at composition that could look over something and play it for me and tell me what they think??
Thanks

Yeah thats what i was going to say if you go for something which has female vocals anyway you can probably pull it off better than a song which a bloke would normally sing.
I think a middle 8 is the instrumental in the middle of a song. I'm not 100% though. What about Blondie? One Way, or Atomic?
Correct, although it's not always an instrumental, it's a bit that is different to the chorus and to the verse that fits in somewhere around the middle, like, for example Machinehead - Imperium "Just listen to it, Voice so true inside calling, To pick you up and march you on..."
so the middle 8 is like a bridge type thing?
Yes they're the same thing...I think.
I know it's overplayed, but Evanescence maybe?
L7?
new born, plug in baby & sunburn by muse
blue & the noose by a perfect circle
thank you and hand in my pocket by alanis morissette
and stupid girl by garbage
any of those any good?
My favourite song to perform is Don't Speak by No Doubt.
Its an amazing song
And look for Capella on eBay - tis much, much cheaper than Sibelius. Not as good but if you're just writing a basic score it's fine. I used it all the way through GCSE.
