for the whole of my life i've had a dodgy tum, but for the past month it's been really bad...really painfull and horrible.
so, i went to the doctors, who in turn sent me to the specialist, who then sent me to the radiologist, who sent me back to the specialist when my scans came back all clear...so he's sent me for one more test (which seems to be a EGD not sure what that is)....but he still can't see a reason for the pain i'm exsperiancing...i said stress, which he said was silly because of my age...personaly i think thats likely to be the problem but is there anything that the doctors could have overlooked...it's not my diet...i eat plenty of fibre and fruit and veg, it could be stress but if it is i'm gonna just have to live with it for the rest of my life...
any light on this would be great....

i think your doc is a bit out of order to say u are too young to be suffering from stress,i've been stressed since the age of 7! i'm guessing he has ruled out irritable bowel syndrome?. ask to have an endoscopy ( thats where they stick a camera up yer bum!) because this will rule out things like colitis and chrones and may show something that the scans etc haven't.
and to add, it comes and goes, i'm 15 and i can't remember what the other question was.
You have a mish-mash of symptoms there....?? Maybe the EGD will find the cause.... Pester your doc again, thats the only way you'll know.
Could be IBS (or another functional bowel disease), triggered by stress/anxiety. Have you tried the little Yakult or Danone drinks?
EGD = OGD in the UK because we spell oesophagus with an o on the front.

Good luck
and sorry spanner, just since having 2 doctors laugh in my face about my stress and stuff i have pretty much no faith in medical profesionals. i'm not wanting anyone to diagnose me just give me some more insights because the doctors are at loose ends as it is..
Now who is being the pedant.
Yeah, don't have this if you can help it, its horrible! But not as bad as up your nose. I had a miniature camera fibre optic thing shoved up my nose to look at my throat it was sooo uncomfortable. It's over quite quickly but is a nasty experience.
aye, it's not great, but they don't do them for the fun of it, and if they think you need it, it's probably a good idea to have it done.
having said that, the guy who sent me for a simliar test said it's a great way of weeding out the hypochondriacs. apparently a lot of people magically get better when there's talk of sticking a camera up their orifices :shocking:
Americanisms do irritate me though.
Yeah I know what you're saying but I'm still building up the courage to have a cystoscopy but definately still have the symptoms :crying:
i bet you wouldn't even consider having it done unless there was a bloody good reason though...
[What are americans like, randomly dropping vowels willy-nilly]
Sorry for hijacking the thread
all i can do i just sit it out...
