I went to the doctors on Wed about painful joints, she said that she thought it may be athritis, i have to have blood tests on mon. she gave me some pain killers paracodal, but i seem to be reacting to them. when i take them i feel faint and vomit. i have stopped taking them, but i am in constant agony when i walk or even try to move a little. Paracetmol doesnt help at all, i was wondering if anyone could suggest something i could take.
thanx

How long have you had the pain? What happened when you took paracetamol?
i have had the pain bout 8 months, when i took paracetemol, there was no difference in the pain.
The only paracetamol based painkiller available OTC that is stronger than plain old paracetamol is paracetamol and codeine. But as Paracodol is one of it's brand names, it's obviously not suitable for you.
Persevere with the paracetamol, I'm afraid.
As above, ice packs (frozen peas) and gentle exercise are your only options until you see the doctor again.
Both are equally fine. Though the cold pack would be more beneficial in this case and will have a longer effect than heat.
Yep, I'm sure I've been told that either is fine.
 me too.
i was told that soaking your hands in warm-hot water for a few minutes does wonders for early-morning swelling and stiffness. and they're right, too.
Very true  - I was trying to think of an example of warmth helping inflammation, but failing miserably But yep, that's a perfect one, helps me no end with morning stiffness.
