I've just watched John Mayer's Austin City Limits performance and I'm seriously impressed. I'd only heard bits and pieces before but he was excellent. I knew he was a decent guitar player but he managed to hold his own against Buddy Guy which is no mean feat.
The only problem is that he seems to be trying a bit too hard to be SRV. Sunburst strat, gurning while soloing and getting Double Trouble in to play? Still he pulls it off better than Kenny Wayne Sheperd........
Anyone else like him?

I know what you mean. John Mayer is the man. Seriously, I love the guy, I think he's awsome.
His own stuff isn't quite as bluesy...tho he cracks out an awsome bluesy guitar solo (admittidly borrowing quite a few trade licks from other blues guitarists) on Come Back To Bed at his concerts.
