Which parametres would you say are crucial to a good living standard? And which ones are merely a luxury?

Doing a geography assignment comparing low income, middle income and high income countries, by 6 different parametres - highlighting their living standard/quality.
According to your belief I can see that I am in the right direction, being that I just finished the section of health, comparing citizens pr. Doctor, and now going on to education. Will probably take a luxury question as well, comparing either the amopunt of mobile phones/tv or phonecalls abroad.
My partner is covering the field of children in work, usage of water and poverty.
All that and freedom of expression within decent parameters. Decent housing, social welfare and public transport.
Luxuries - private transport, education. Most consumer goods. More than three pairs of shoes
A balanced diet, a roof over your head with warmth, water, a safe place to live and health care. Education and today, the internet and phones (for communication). Public transport, freedom of speech and a bit of money so you can go socialise with your friends.
Luxury
Most clothing that's seen as 'fashionable' instead of 'functional'... most types of shoes that don't do anymore than look good, private transport, video games.
Try doing a search on 'Maslow's Heirarchy of Needs'.
Ooh, including him could give extra points. For once sociology can be used to something useful.
Thanks for the answers.
