I have just spilt a big long line of black nail varnish on a cream carpet.
My parents are away on holiday and I am going to get in so much trouble. Oh my god! I have literally been in tears over this!
I've tried Vanish strain remover and nail varnish remover, and its not even faded it. I did it half an hour ago and have been scrubbing ever since and its not done a thing.
Anyone got any ideas? I mean anything, I am desparate here!

good luck!!
You can also try : Dry-cleaning fluid, lighter fuel or mineral turpentine.
Use only in well-ventilated areas. etc. Don't light a match
I can remember the post you did about that! lol
Firey - it might be covered on your house insurance!
Although I'm not good with carpets, you can never actually see mine under all the shit that's on my floor!
How can I cut it out?! I think I'm just being thick, wouldnt there be a huge hole in the carpet then, I think the stain looks better
Well I'm absolutely stuck. I can't rearrange the furniture to cover it, because its like...in front of a door going into the kitchen so I can't actually put a couch in front of it or something.
I've scrubbed for hours last night and this morning and its not even faded. I'm going to try some of the things in this thread, off to Asda in a bit. I think I'll give lighter fuel a miss though - I'd probably set myself on fire
if the carpet has quite a long pile, and the varnish has dried solidly on top, you can sometimes cut halfway down the pile, underneath the bottom of the varnish, if you get me.
it looks like your carpet has been shaved, but it gets the stain off.
these days i'm all about wood floor.
Turpentine.
I owe my life to Stardrops, warm water and a lot of scrubbing.
Thanks for everyones suggestions though
