Today marks the last day of Ramadan, the 9th month in the Islamic calendar which commemorates the first revelation of the Quran to the Islamic Prophet Muhammad. Starting tonight and continuing through tomorrow is the celebration of Eid-Al-Fitr.

Throughout Ramadan, Muslims across the world consume a meal before sunrise in the morning, called "suhur". They then do not eat or drink anything until the Sun sets in the evening, in which they eat a meal called the "iftar" which breaks the fast. The exceptions to this, of course, are those who are children, pregnant or unwell. Fasting for the month of Ramadan brings spiritual rewards and allows time for reflection and discipline.

At the end of the month of Ramadan is the celebration called Eid-Al-Fitr, "Festival of Breaking the Fast", which begins at sunset after the last day of fasting, marking the end of Ramadan and the beginning of the month of Shawwal. The day is typically marked with eating traditional foods and treats, such as baklava in Turkey. Families and friends come together to attend Mosque in the morning and celebrate the end of Ramadan. Children often go door-to-door in their community to receive sweets and money!

Eid Mubarak to everyone who celebrates, may this day bring joy, happiness and forgiveness! Has anyone here been taking part in Ramadan, and celebrating Eid-Al-Fitr tonight and tomorrow? If so, what are your favourite celebrations and traditions that you like to do for Eid-Al-Fitr?
