hey so im 17 and in my first year of college doing level 3 business and i wanted to share with you all what its like doing level 3 business at college.
first of all, its pretty damn hard. from the first week of college i was already expected to start my first piece of coursework which sucks because ive only just joined the course and now theyre expecting me to do coursework? that was a bit bs in my opinion but ok.
second of all, if you want to study this subject at level 3 in college you have to be prepared to do exams in january. not in may/june. january. at the time of writing this ive already done my marketing exam and will do my finance exam tomorrow (monday). if i dont pass these exams then i can re-do them in may/june, but id have to finish later than the rest of my cohort. it sucks because a level students dont get exams until theyre in year 13 and in the year before they only do their mock exams whilst we do the real thing in year 1 of the course.
third and last of all, you have to sort out mandatory work experience for the february half term in year 1 of the course. now this one's not as bad as the other points but its still pretty bad as the work experience has to be business related and not many employers will take a business student for work experience especially if theyre under 18 because they have to abide by child employer laws. luckily i believe that i already have work experience sorted out because of support from my college, but not many business students studying at other colleges have that sort of luxury. by the way im going to do work experience at an estate agent, so if youre stuck not knowing what to do for work experience as a level 3 business student just do it at an estate agent, there should be loads of them locally in your area.

The work experience requirement also sounds challenging. Securing business-related placements while under 18 can be quite difficult as you said, so it’s reassuring that your college is providing support to help you with this. Doing your work experience at an estate agent sounds like an excellent option and it is really thoughtful of you to share to help other business students who might not know where to start.
I hope you’re doing okay with everything and that your finance exam goes well.
