Discussion boards upgrade!

Hey all,

We wanted to let you know that the Discussion Boards will be undergoing an upgrade on Thursday (20th) afternoon 2-3pm.
You'll still be able to access the boards, but you may notice some changes to the layout and overall appearance of the boards. This update is designed to make the Discussion boards easier to navigate, more accessible and reduce technical issues.
There may be moments where things look a little different or feel slightly disrupted while the upgrade is applied, but everything should settle quickly. If you notice any issues please reply to this post below.

    Same was said when the site had changes but its not easier to navigate and half the bugs reported arent repaired

    Well this is a .. big change. I don’t dislike it but now to relearn the entire site.

    Where are my notifications I’m so lost lol!

    Ok found those. Omg we need a new user guide :joy: but tbf it looks a bit like other forums i use. Someone who maybe isn’t used to forum layouts other than this one might get confused (even more confused than i was lol, partly because i forgot about this)

    I agree with @independent_ - the new layout isn't bad, but I'm certainly feeling quite lost right now lol.

    I think with relatively big changes like this, it might have been helpful if we’d at least known what it might look like / any new functionalities before it went live, as always used to happen.

    We seem to have the new text box now that i said had lots of issues, so we shall see

    Hmm seems the same as when we all tested it

    Edited to add, with the same accessibility issues as when we tested it aswell

    I have to say I think the previous layout was a lot easier to navigate (or maybe I'm just easily confused lol) but I'm sure I'll get used to the new one before long.

    Ye it was ok at first. The heading with the quick links below the reply box has also disappeared. I used that all the time

    Ok one issue has been fixed in that i can now press the buttons and they actually bring up the menus, which they didn’t before. But the commands it reads out to me when i click the text box (CTRL + shift + P for paragraph menu, etc) still don’t seem to be working, though i will test this more. I have no idea what I’m doing here what buttons do i even need to press for what

    I've only just logged in and I'm getting used to the woke new design myself. While I appreciate the new upgrades I didn't really have an issue with the older style page which I felt looked much more nicer. I dont know because for me it feels now a bit too clinical, i dont know if anyone gets that feeling too?

    In all fairness, I don’t mind most of it, there are elements which (coming from an accessibility point of view) are better. But I still feel if the new text box in particular is permanent and it was known before hand this was coming, it really should have been stated in the post. I say that as someone who also didn’t mind the old style page. It’s very like some newer forums I use (I can think of an example, I won’t name it here but theirs looks similar, just with the old text box).

    Edit: actually, i was wrong with my example - they are using the new text box. It’s the kind of place where i could actually ask about the best way to use it with a screen reader so good discovery lol

    The new layout will take some adjusting too. I think it's alright.

    @AnonymousToe up to you if you leave, myself and everyone would really miss you if you did leave you're an amazing member here. It is harder to use but we will get used to it.

    If I can figure out what to do with the text box I honestly think I’ll get used to it eventually. It’s so strange rn bc I’m not used to it being like this

    So more questions

    Why is there a share button and a copy button next to every comment, is that meant to be there?

    How do I do emojis?

    What do the points mean? If you click on members it’s got like a leaderboard thing at the bottom with points what are these for and how do I get them? Assuming they’re not guideline points?

    When I try to react to posts people have made sometimes it says 'discussion not found' and doesn't let me react to it - I'm not sure if that's related to the new update but just thought I'd mention it anyway.

    Just a quick update- thank you for all your feedbacks. We are currently working with our platform developers to try and address the issues you have raised. They are based in US so expect a further response from them later this afternoon.
