support on father’s day 🌸

hey🙂

i just wanted to make a post on here for anyone who might need a little extra support to get through today! i know father’s day can be a difficult day for many, and whatever your reason is for it being difficult, pls know that is valid.

i myself struggle with father’s day, particularly with seeing social media posts from everyone about how grateful they are for their dad - i get so jealous because my dad doesn’t even acknowledge my existence. i’ve grown up with my dad not wanting to play a part in my life for the most part, he hasn’t had any involvement for about 10 years now, and when he was ‘involved’, it was typically excuses as to why he couldn’t make it - he was the only man that could conveniently get a flat tire every single sunday morning…

if anyone wants to talk about anything, i am here so pls do feel free to share anything on your mind - as well, there is a support thread here on the boards from 12pm-1:30pm!

i’m going to add some helplines here for anyone who may need them today, or any day, and remember: reaching out for support doesn’t make you weak, you’re really strong for doing so and i am proud of you!

i ended up going out today and ended up passing several of the places that i would’ve went to see my dad when he could be bothered, i feel so much worse now as it’s brought up those memories:(

    Hey @shannon_164
I know what you mean.. sometimes memories can comfort us but also hurt us at the same time and it's hard finding that balance..
It's difficult it's brought out all back up for you... allow yourself the time to deal with this... its okay! It's not your fault uoy feeling like this..

@shannon_164 your father never deserved to have somebody as kind as you in his life, some men don't deserve to have a daughter, but every daughter deserves to have a father. it's cruel you were denied it. Sending you a virtual hug. <3
