Any Ideas for raising awareness on FND

Summerjune15Summerjune15 Posts: 141 Helping Hand
As some of you already know that I’ve got a condition called FND also known as functional neurological disorder i want to raise awareness my original idea was to make bracelets with the words FND WARRIOR but my bracelets kept snapping and falling apart and even if I was able to fix them which I wasn’t able to fix most of them I was to scared to sell them as if it broke for one of the customers I also felt it was to girly and I didn’t want to leave the boys / men out as they can suffer with FND too I’m good at crafts and writing so maybe I could do something along those lines but any ideas would be really helpful and appreciated thank you🫶🏼

    hey @Summerjune15 🙂

i really admire how you’re turning something so personal into a way to raise awareness and support others! i think your idea with the bracelets was beautiful, and it makes total sense that you’d want something that feels inclusive and durable. it’s ok that they didn’t work out, what matters is your heart behind it!

since you’re good at crafts and writing, maybe you could create wee awareness kits with handwritten notes or mini cards explaining what fnd is, paired with small crafted items like keychains? lots of people do things like self care kits etc. another way could be using social media platforms to raise awareness by sharing your journey with fnd l, obviously if you’re comfortable doing so that is! you could inspire so many people who might be feeling alone in it.

whatever you choose to do, i think it’s already a big step just by trying <3

Hey @Summerjune15 your ideas of raising awareness are lovely, I’m not to sure about other ideas but for your bracelets snapping if you not the ends and then put clear nail polish over the top of the knot it keeps them from breaking (had a bracelet business ages ago) :)

Maybe you could do fnd care packages you know like you can get mental health ones? Maybe ones specifically for fnd and like a guide to it all 💕

Hey @shannon_164 and thank you it took me awhile to realise and think to myself no FND will NOT BREAK ME I am currently in a middle of writing a story and I was thinking about personalised medical lanyards I don’t know how that’s going to work out and I was thinking about FND care toolkit but that’s the thing with me I have loads of ideas running through my head I want to do them all haha but I’m going to stick with the book and I’m hoping to publish it and yes I will be using my social media platforms to raise awareness (when I’m 18 I’m not aloud social media platforms until 18) but I LOVE your idea about key-rings and handwritten notes thank you so much🩷 (I was thinking about a blog living with FND but I wouldn’t like sharing myself to the world at such vulnerable times so book it is! Thank you again for you lovely idea🩷
