hey🙂

i just had an appointment with a doctor that id never seen before, i didn’t have high hopes given all my experiences so far but she was actually super lovely and genuinely did listen to what i had to say - appointments are meant to be 10 minutes, she gave me 34 whole minutes of her time wow

the outcome is she’s referred me back to their counsellor again (not sure how i feel about that) and also put me back on medication. at one point i nearly cried and she said “it’s ok to cry, im a crier too” - she was genuinely so so lovely.

she has booked me in for bloods next week to check there’s nothing physically wrong with me as its just kinda being put down to my mood (which i expected anyways) and then booked me in for a review in 2 weeks time, but she said it won’t be with her as today’s her last day as she’s going off on maternity leave now - it’s probably silly but i walked out after the appointment and just burst into tears as now i finally have met someone who has been so lovely and understanding, i won’t be seeing her again:(

I’m glad the appointment went well, you deserve kindness and to be looked after <3 I hope you’ll meet another lovely person next time
Sometimes when the people most like you don't love you, it is a hurt that can cause the greatest pain, and this pain can lead you to hate everything.

Oh Shannon, I'm smiling as I read this post! It sounds like the doctor felt so supportive and kind for you, and she really gave you space to properly share what you're going through and feel heard. Compassion like that can be so, so powerful!

It is really valid that you felt sad to know you won't get to see her again next time - it meant so much to you to be treated that way and you really valued her! How have you been able to take care of yourself after the appointment? It sounds like an emtoional morning.

You mentioned that she's referred you to counselling too, though you're a bit unsure. That also is very valid, Shannon, and I wonder if it would feel helpful to share more about those mixed feelings? What's going on there for you?

Thank you again so much for sharing this, and we're all here for you on the journey.

Awww this is lovely to hear.. im glad! Seems like it meant a lot for you... I liked that phrase where she reassured you it was okay to cry and she's a crier.
That's sad you won't see her again but hold onto this experience @shannon_164 .
I hope you continue to have more positive experience
