hey🙂

i am SO nearly finished this year of college (yay!!!!) but the amount of work i still have left is actually making me want to cry rn lol

i think it’s kinda crazy where im at with college giving the fact i have said quite literally every single day this year so far “im gonna drop out” haha, ive basically made it to the end though - wednesday is officially our last class then we get final grades for term 2 units after assessment board which is early june (scary).

my college has made it rather difficult to say the least for me this year with just effectively taking 8 months to mess me about with the support from inclusive learning team, so i’m actually quite proud of myself for managing to this year - looking at my grades is like such a wow moment?
confirmed grades:
unit 2 - distinction
unit 7 - distinction
unit 10 - distinction

predicted grades:
unit 1 - distinction
unit 5 - distinction
unit 14 - distinction

as much as i’ve said alllllll year long about dropping out, it’s the college i hate, not the course. i very much so DO want to complete the course so as a solution i am going to be going to a new college from september to be able to complete year 2, and so far they’ve already gave much better vibes and seemed waaay more supportive!!

next year i wont be as successful with grades as unit 3 is anatomy, this gal just about knows the head, shoulders, knees and toes song so she’s a little screwed on the more on depth details haha but knowing that ive very nearly made it through year 1 with so much going on in my own life, working 2 jobs, college being unsupportive, missing several classes due to appointments, sitting exams when i was really not well, volunteering etc, well i think thats crazy?!! im just so glad that i wont be returning there for second year, but i will really miss a few people such as one wellbeing officer (she is an absolute queen), one of the librarians (she turned crying into laughing without fail) and one of the ones that taught me (again, another absolute queen)! so i’m sad about that:(

although i finish on wednesday technically, i am going to still go to college and go to the library just and work on my unit 3 revision notes as my college begin teaching unit 3 in year 1 even though it’s a year 2 exam whereas the other college begin teaching in year 2, so at least ill know a little bit about anatomy then? haha so ill get to see the ones i’ll miss for a little longer yay

this is very random and all jumbled up i feel like but i just wanted to say it i guess? like go me, i done that? wow!!!

thank you for reading <3

Hey Shannon, how are you doing? Ahhh, I feel SUCH pride reading this message. Wow. You said that you feel proud of yourself and I absolutely see that!! There is SO much to be proud of here. I'm so happy you've made this post so we can be with you in this! It's been such a journey, and thank you for taking us along! It's an honour.

Wednesday is the final day of the college year - wow. As you said, there have been many, many incredibly difficult points throughout this past year (some of which have even been the hardest you've faced in your life) AND here you are, still enrolled, still completing the work, and about to complete the final day of the year. That's truly amazing, Shannon, and LOOK at that brilliant spread of top-tier grades. What a testament to your resilience, persistence, hard-work, and care. It has been extreamly hard, and you've found ways every single week to make space and time to complete your assignments alongside two jobs and volunteering, as well as reaching out for help. I really do feel so moved reading this, Shannon. What do you think Wednesday will feel like when that day comes?

And I see that early June you're due some results too and noticed you said that feels scary. I'm with you, and that makes sense. You care so, so much. And it feels high-stakes right now. You've put in so much work, and I wonder how you might take care of yourself while waiting for results to come through? Are you the kind of student who likes to distract themselves when you're waiting for results, or maybe it feels more helpful to talk it through with your peers / teachers?
as much as i’ve said alllllll year long about dropping out, it’s the college i hate, not the course. i very much so DO want to complete the course so as a solution i am going to be going to a new college from september to be able to complete year 2, and so far they’ve already gave much better vibes and seemed waaay more supportive!!

Congratulations, Shannon! This is another really big step! I can hear the excitement in your voice so much! And I hope you can feel proud of yourself for making this option a reality. You put in the work of going to meet with them, and that's taken courage! At the same time too, it sounds like there are some people at your old college that you'll really miss. They've been a bit part of your life! How do you think you'd like to say goodbye?
next year i wont be as successful with grades as unit 3 is anatomy, this gal just about knows the head, shoulders, knees and toes song so she’s a little screwed on the more on depth details haha but knowing that ive very nearly made it through year 1 with so much going on in my own life, working 2 jobs, college being unsupportive, missing several classes due to appointments, sitting exams when i was really not well, volunteering etc, well i think thats crazy?!!

Sounds like you know it will be challenging, but there's BELIEF in yourself there too!

Thank you again so much for sharing this. It sounds like you're really taking a moment to pause, recognise just how far you've come, and to let that SINK IN a minuet! How gorgeous. You are so deserving of everything you have been working towards and wish for yourself!

AAAA @shannon_164, I am so incredibly proud of you!!! You’ve been through so so much during your first year (I honestly can’t imagine working 2 jobs and volunteering while studying, especially without adequate support from the college) and you’ve managed to pull through and get amazing results! That’s incredible!!

Like what @Sian321 said, it’s great that you’ve made this thread and took a moment to reflect on your progress! I feel like it’s so important to do this every now and then so that we can keep going!

Best of luck with your second year at a different college, it’s gonna be difficult learning anatomy but I have no doubt that you’ll get through it! Well done, I’m so proud of your journey! <3
