December achievements, with a theme of volunteering!

Hi everyone! Happy New Year’s Eve, or happy ordinary Tuesday! :3

For the final time this year, I’d like to do a monthly achievement check-in! You’ve all come a long way ever since the start of the year – so you deserve to give yourselves some praise  as always, please write as many as you like!

My achievements this month:
- I’ve been driving by myself which has been quite scary but fun! It’s a strange feeling of freedom, but I’m so grateful for my family for encouraging me to face my fear of driving on my own
- I met up with my mum’s relatives in London yesterday and had a really lovely time!
- I have been managing to get some revision done for my January exams whilst also maintaining a balance of rest especially during this holiday period

This month, it was International Volunteer Day on the 5th (https://www.unv.org/Basic-Page/International-Volunteer-Day-overview)! So for those who volunteer, what do you love most about it? And for those who are interested in volunteering, what makes you want to volunteer?

For me I really love being part of a community as a Peer Supporter – everyone here at The Mix is so lovely and I really enjoy hearing what everyone’s been up to. And when supporting users it feels extremely rewarding, whether it’s reacting to posts, or ensuring others that they’re not alone :3

I’m so so proud of you all and I genuinely still can’t believe that it’ll be 2025 soon. You are all wonderful and I hope you all treat yourselves because you all deserve it. See you all next year! <3

@Maia, amazing achievements! I can imagine that catching up with uni work, moving house and qualifying for a new surfing position made you really busy, so glad to hear that you got through it all! Especially in the busy month of December.

I’m glad you can relate to that feeling of driving alone for the first time! It’s so scary but you’re absoutely right, it really is freeing in a strange way. I’ve been driving more recently and it’s been going okay!

And yes this community is such a comfort place for me and everyone is so lovely here! <3

@sinead276, honestly getting through the whole year is an achievement itself, it definitely has been rough at times, but you didn’t give up on yourself and I’m so proud of you for that! <3

And I totally agree with what you’ve said about volunteering here, you’ve been giving such lovely support on here which we really appreciate! Honestly this community feels like a second home :3

@Amy22, these are wonderful achievements! Yes we really appreciated your help volunteeeing on the boards during the Christmas season as it’s so important for everyone to feel comfortable during a busy time of the year. You did an amazing job!

Congrats on completing your 6 week contract with WHSmith! It’s great to hear that you’ve learned a lot from it  and ooo have you made more progress with the fish? Hope we get to see the finished product at some point! It’s absolutely incredible that you crochet, and now you’re learning how to knit! <3

@eylah, these are incredible achievements! It’s really great that you’re training to become a support buddy - you’ve been offering so much support here in the community, and the fact that you’re offering even more help to others is amazing and is so appreciated!

Taking the bus and making your first ever doctor’s appointment seem like pretty ordinary things to others, but you were able to do it despite being scared of taking the bus, and I’m so proud of you for that! :3

Keep trying your best in everything you do, you’re doing so well! <3
