Hi everyone! Happy New Year’s Eve, or happy ordinary Tuesday!
For the final time this year, I’d like to do a monthly achievement check-in! You’ve all come a long way ever since the start of the year – so you deserve to give yourselves some praise as always, please write as many as you like!
My achievements this month:
- I’ve been driving by myself which has been quite scary but fun! It’s a strange feeling of freedom, but I’m so grateful for my family for encouraging me to face my fear of driving on my own
- I met up with my mum’s relatives in London yesterday and had a really lovely time!
- I have been managing to get some revision done for my January exams whilst also maintaining a balance of rest especially during this holiday period
This month, it was International Volunteer Day on the 5th (https://www.unv.org/Basic-Page/International-Volunteer-Day-overview)! So for those who volunteer, what do you love most about it? And for those who are interested in volunteering, what makes you want to volunteer?
For me I really love being part of a community as a Peer Supporter – everyone here at The Mix is so lovely and I really enjoy hearing what everyone’s been up to. And when supporting users it feels extremely rewarding, whether it’s reacting to posts, or ensuring others that they’re not alone
I’m so so proud of you all and I genuinely still can’t believe that it’ll be 2025 soon. You are all wonderful and I hope you all treat yourselves because you all deserve it. See you all next year!
Kai

I remember the first time I drove alone and I was totally freaked. You get used to it though! The freedom is unbeatable.
My achievements for this month:
- I caught up with all of my uni work!
- I moved house
- I qualified for a new surfing competition
I love this Kaii and I totally agree. I love being volunteering for The Mix. The community, staff and other volunteers are all so lovely and It makes volunteering here a joy. I love catching up with the community and seeing how everyone is constantly growing and blossoming. Y'all rock!
and as a fellow peer supporter i couldn't agree more. getting to come on the boards and chat to you lovely people and try and offer a bit of support where i can is really fulfilling. half the time it doesn't even feel like 'volunteering' but more just talking to you all and hopefully giving people the piece of mind that there is always someone there to listen and offer a new perspective.
wishing all the positive vibes for 2025 💖
So now onto Amy's Mixmas Achievement's
- I technically didn't volunteer this year but you could say I volunteered as a Mixmas Christmas elf on the boards during the winter season making sure people felt warm and safe this festive season
- I finished my six week contract with Whsmiths working as a seasonal retail assistant and it's been a great experience getting to learn more about retail and stock.
- I've been learning how to knit more and I am halfway through knitting a fish!
Wishing everyone a great 2025 on here!
- i started supporting more ppl in distress ( training to become a support buddy!)
- i have gotten on a bus multiple times ( scary!)
- i made my first ever drs appt
- i have tried my best is what matters.

I’m glad you can relate to that feeling of driving alone for the first time! It’s so scary but you’re absoutely right, it really is freeing in a strange way. I’ve been driving more recently and it’s been going okay!
And yes this community is such a comfort place for me and everyone is so lovely here!
And I totally agree with what you’ve said about volunteering here, you’ve been giving such lovely support on here which we really appreciate! Honestly this community feels like a second home
Congrats on completing your 6 week contract with WHSmith! It’s great to hear that you’ve learned a lot from it and ooo have you made more progress with the fish? Hope we get to see the finished product at some point! It’s absolutely incredible that you crochet, and now you’re learning how to knit!
Taking the bus and making your first ever doctor’s appointment seem like pretty ordinary things to others, but you were able to do it despite being scared of taking the bus, and I’m so proud of you for that!
Keep trying your best in everything you do, you’re doing so well!
