(Mentions of suicide) knowing that the UK government is legalising assisted suicide gives me hope

I know that it currently applies with those with terminal illnesses, but I hope we get to a future where people who are mentally ill will have the freedom to end their lives peacefully and painlessly.

I don’t intend to go back to therapy, considering it’s worthless and all it does is offer false hope. I’m not saying posting this to get help from others, but to express my hope that the government will let me end my misery in the future.

I have nothing to live for. Why should I be forced to live in a horrible and cruel world? Why should I be forced to live up to my fifties, where I would be living alone, and mentally worse due to failing to get a partner. That sounds like torture to me.

Maybe in the future, they may allow autistic people (like me) to end their lives, considering it’s a disability that ruins your life and can’t be cured.

I hope for that future to become a reality.

    Hey @bignosegirly0

    This post really resonates as it is really exhausting to be alive when each day feels like a struggle. I know it takes a lot to live so I'm really proud of you for doing that. I hope you can find small pockets of happiness throughout your day even if it's just watching a comfort show, eating a favourite meal or engaging in a hobby <3

    @bignosegirly0

    I’m really sorry you feel like this

    The cruelness of the world can be overwhelming but there are still good things that are worth living and fighting for, for example this website, it lets people who are struggling talk about it with no judgment, and theres so many good people in the world who want to do good, their deeds may seem small but the small kind deeds of people are what keeps the world going

    I also believe in the power to create hope, for example lately I’ve decided to look after myself a bit better and start doing things that could possibly help me that in the past I’ve been to scared to do, and I’ve started feeling a lot better and I know that the more things I try the more hope and opportunities I open up, obviously it’s easier for some than others but I believe absolutely anyone is capable of doing it. The first step is to forgive yourself, and have a sense of self worth and start feeling comfortable in your own skin, after that you see things differently and you start to notice opportunities and have the confidence and courage to take them. Obviously it can be hard to believe someone when they say things like this and it’s easy to write it off as false hope. But I don’t think this is false hope I think it’s a realistic but optimistic outlook, and if you think about it it sort of logically makes sense.

    Another reason to live is because everyone has something to give to the world, think back to your earliest years, what sort of things where you drawn to, did you like sounds and rhythms?, or were you drawn to art and drawing?, every human being has a sort of area their naturally interested in and if they accept it and pursue it they can develop a skill in that area and use it to benefit the world or even make a living, I know that from my earliest years I’ve always been fascinated by creating and having an end result, so I decided the sort of job I’m gonna pursue is one where I make things for people

    I hope this all makes sense and it gives you just a little hope, I think the very very first step to recovery from a situation like this is just to believe in hope, then you’ll have a drive to do things that’ll help improve the situation and eventually you’ll realise your hope wasn’t foolish because you used it to make things better, plus I believe even if hope is foolish it still helps because it gives you a drive and if enough people have hope even if it seems foolish they can change the world

    So please give your life a chance, you’ve got so much to give to the world
