Feeling Stuck

TheNightmareTheNightmare Posts: 2,276 Boards Champion
I was meant to be working with a company to get onto placements or work related courses but they dont have anything else atm. I did a placement taster session on friday last week but didn't get on the placement. I was hoping I could get on more placemats but they dont have any atm. It feels like everything is going wrong, and I'm stuck in a dark place. I'm constantly worrying about when or if I’ll find work because the longer I go without it, the more stressed I feel. I feel judged by others, wondering if they think I’m not trying hard enough, and the pressure is overwhelming. I didn’t expect it to be this hard, and it feels like my life is wasting away. I keep replaying mistakes, like a missed warehouse opportunity, and that regret only adds to my anxiety. I’ve become bored, unfulfilled, and isolated, avoiding social activities like pub quizzes or football games. While overthinking the smallest things like whether my placement company will even answer the phone makes staying positive almost impossible. I’ve lost motivation for things I used to enjoy, like washing my car, and I feel stuck in this negative mindset.

Hey it’s alright I completely understand what this feels like but it only becomes hopeless when you give up hope. It’s frustrating when each plan you have cerear wise doesn’t work because you lose more hope each time but trust me as long as you keep trying something will come up. You will get there. I understand it’s not as easy as you thought but that makes when you do find a job so much more satisfying. Don’t give up. You only fail when you give up so keep going you’ve got this

Thanks so much for the encouragement. You're right, I just need to keep pushing and not give up. It helps to hear that I'll keep going!

    Hi @TheNightmare, I hope you’re feeling okay ❤️
I know how tough it is having to deal with so many of those issues and the emotions that come with it, especially hyper fixating on the negative ones.

Perhaps one way that may help you with dealing with them is changing your perspective. Now that you’re able to identify how much you’d like to get a placement somewhere and able to analyse your previous mistakes, ask yourself the question of what you could do to challenge those ideas. Maybe by applying to more jobs opportunities or telling yourself how you’ve learned from that previous mistake/ situation.

These might help with managing with how you feel in the moment, and also maybe reduce your negative thinking. Regardless I hope you go easy on yourself. Especially in the current job climate where we are now, it can be really tough for people to get something quickly. But as Lucy has said, don’t give up and keep going! :3
