Just a little reminder that you’re doing amazing 🌈

Unemployment can be tough and disheartening, but you still deserve to take breaks and be proud of yourself. 🥰

Gentle reminders for people who are currently unemployed
  • Remember your worth is not dependent on your current employment status
  • Ask for help if you need support with looking for a new job
  • Acknowledge your wins
  • Did you write a great cover letter that you're really proud of?
  • Did you spend the day searching for jobs and shortlisting some applications?
  • Take some time to update your CV
  • Develop a routine for your job search
  • But remember it is safe to take breaks!
  • Pick up a hobby!
  • Knitting?
  • A new sport?
  • Cooking and baking?
  • Sketching?
  • Keep a schedule of what jobs you want to apply for and their application date
  • Keep talking about your situation- there is no shame in being unemployed
  • Get outside!
  • Consider a side hussle
  • Tutoring?
  • Dog walking?
  • Selling your old clothes?
  • Try out freelancing?
  • Visit your local job centre for some practical advice

Eventhough technically im not unemployed but I am on a trainee scheme for TV and film which is coming to an end (my contract runs out next week but I have been trying to get in touch with my mentors who at the moment seem super busy and I don't really want to bother them). I am just worried that I might unemployed at the end of the scheme and struggling to find work which is paid. Honestly I love doing work experience because I do love helping others and I would do that for free everyday all day. But the thing is I am going to eventually need to start earning some income because sadly in this world everything includes and involves money. Therefore, I need to find something soonish. I would ideally love to stay in the tv industry but the issue is I may be on a job month gap between jobs due to the instability of the industry at the moment and that may mean working in hospitality or something similar for the time being. Maybe it's me being very stupid and silly like I always am. I have been upset that my traineeship is coming to an end. But I have gone to a networking event recently where I have spoken to a lady who works for the company I am with and she told me to meet her next week where we can properly discuss the plan going forward.

However I am aware that there is totally nothing wrong with being unemployed because there are many many reasons as to why people may be in that situation. I do feel like there a huge pressure on younger people to get into work (partly the goverment are to blame for that in a way and even some of the things that the press have said about unemployed really annoys me because there's always two sides of a coin).

Why do we always have to have a job anyway? I’m technically unemployed but I’m not in a position where I’d be able to work, I couldn’t attend an interview or anything anyway.

    I know the feeling

Honestly my current job the interview was mega stressful but the actual work don't feel much like work
