What is health anxiety?
Health anxiety is when we spend so much time worrying about feeling or getting ill that it starts to take over our brain and it makes us believe that there is something wrong with us, when actually we're perfectly healthy.
What can help health anxiety?
Challenge your thoughts: Write your anxieties down and challenge them with rational responses. E.g., I have a headache because I haven't drank enough water today.
Breathing exercises: If you find yourself in an anxious cycle, try some simple breathing techniques to think more clearly.
Spend time with a loved one: This can help us to re-ground ourselves and rationalise our anxious thought processes!
Talking therapies: Therapies, such as CBT, can be very helpful for health anxiety. Try reaching out to your GP to see if they can refer you.
