I have an addiction thar my mother has recently come to be made aware of and has been unbelievably terrible to me, locking me in my house ect to prevent me from getting drugs. I understand she worries but I feel a little embarrassed when my mother has such control over my life. How can I take the pressure off? I've just been with her for 2 weeks and been sober and now I've left she's gone wild again.

Here at The Mix, our services are designed and targeted directly at young people who are under the age of 25, and from your post and date of birth it looks as though you might be a little bit older than this. This means that the community's life experience and knowledge of support is generally specialised to under 25's. As a result, it's going to be tricky to have conversations about situations specific to your age group, and we're not going to have very much practical information on hand to support you.
For these reasons, we are going to deactivate your account and close this thread- you absolutely haven't done anything wrong, this is just a space specialised for under 25's
I also want to encourage you to continue using a service specifically designed for adults:
A good starting point is Side by Side, a mental health support community run by Mind for over 18's. This platform is a similar sentiment to the community here at The Mix so hopefully this is a good place to turn to next.
For drugs and alcohol, We Are With you can offer free, confidential support with drugs, alcohol and mental health concerns. HERE is the link to their homepage and HERE is the link to their online chat.
If you've got any questions about this, then do just drop us a reply. You've done really well to reach out for support, and we hope that you find the support that you deserve.
Do you have any friends that you could speak to online or any communities or online groups?
Do you have any hobbies that you could do in the house as a distraction to pass the time?
