Happy Young Carers Action Day!

This day is dedicated to raising awareness about the challenges that young and young adult carers face and the support they need.

A young carer is someone under the age of 18 who helps to look after a family member with a chronic illness, mental health condition, disability, or substance abuse problems. For example, a sibling or a parent. A young adult carer is very similar to a young carer but refers to someone between the age of 18-25.

Caring will look different to everyone depending on their age and who they care for.

The Mix has a young carers page which you can check out for support and information.

This year’s theme is Making Time for Young Carers. So, let us know - how do you look after your mental health as a young carer?

If you’re not a young carer yourself, share your best self-care advice and tips on how to make time for yourself below…
