Calling all poets who love nature!

Mental Health Awareness Week is next week and it's all about nature. We'd love to feature some poetry on our social channels that explores this connection - whether it be positive or negative. So if you'd like to shoot your shot at some poetry (it can be however long you want) and would be happy with it being featured on our Instagram - post it below or email marketing@themix.org.uk and we'll get back in touch.

The poem itself can be focused on anything that explores mental health and nature - it can be about a stroll you took, your plant, how you wish you had more nature next to you during lockdown...

Hello I haven't done poetry in ageeees but here's an attempt 🤣

    She walked off her worry
    She was on a mission
    To forget her problems
    In a hurry

    But when she stopped
    And took a deep breath
    She came to realize
    All her thoughts went deaf

    She embraced the silence
On her skin she felt the breeze
She felt the ground beneath her feet
And she watched the sway of the trees

    She admired the sights
She listened to the sound of the birds
Felt the calm of everything around her
Everything on her mind was merely words

    She basked in the sun
She felt her troubles melt away
Watched the ripple of the river
She didn't need to worry today

While she knew she wasn't cured
It didn't matter because she felt calm
She may still have her struggles
But for now she had them all in her palm

    The Earth is shamelessly so,
Observe as the leaves fall from the trees,
How the bumble of the bee makes the flowers sing with colour,
And the hum of the birds makes the Earth vibrant with song.

A stream will flow beyond the rock,
And down the river it is not compelled,
The water listens and knows no bounds
    Listen to nature,
she teaches us to be kind to ourselves

For the sky remains unashamed of its vastness,
And the mountains will never be humiliated of their height
The sea shall not be apologetic for it's waves,
And the sun will not feel guilty that it shone so bright.

Thank mother earth for leaving us blessed,
    And for teaching us resilience,
The leaf falls on to a blanket of grass,
And regrows in all it's brilliance

    Once you've taken a look,
Don't forget to take a leaf for yourself,
And place it within your book.

Thankyou all for all your poems. I'm going to have to cap it at three poems for now - but please do continue using this space to showcase your natural poet-y talents. We're always looking for poems to put out on our socials, so never hesitate to post :)
