Seeing through an 8 year olds eyes

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 177 Helping Hand
Messages to 8 year old me:

‘No one else notices you, gives you the attention that you deserve, I will’
‘You’re special to me, I don’t show anyone else what I do you’
‘A sex game that is just ‘ours’, that is why it must stay secret’
‘You don’t need to be scared, it’s a nice feeling’
‘A gift for you, to wear for me’

Naive, gullible, slag

Messages from 15 year old self:

No one noticed me, or gave me attention, but you broke me!
You don’t show anyone else because you’d have been caught!
Sex isn’t a game, not to an 8 year old, you shouldn’t be playing! It was never fun being your secret!
I was always scared, you confused my head, manipulated, scared is all’s I knew! It’s a dirty and shameful feeling!
A gift for you to get off and abuse me further! I was already damaged, already damaged you needn’t have bought me when you had the whole of me!

The only question I have now isn’t why, but where were the adults, my protectors, how did it happen for so long?

The rest of me is empty, dead almost - should I say thanks for everything??

No 8 year old should have to go through that Natalie Im sorry. You have been through a really difficult time and you deserve peace and care.
“And when they look at you, they won't see everything you've been through. They won't see the **** that turned to scars that began to fade with time. They won't see the heartbreaking things that shook up and changed your entire world. They won't know how many tears you cried or even what it was you were crying about. They won't see how strong you had to be because you had no other choice. What they will see though is how compassionate you are because you experienced pain. What they will see is how kind you are because you experienced how cruel the world is. What they will see is how good you are because you've seen how bad things or people can be. The difference between you and your experiences are who you choose to be, despite everything that could have turned you cold and unkind. You are the good the world needs and the best of us.” ~ Kirsten Corley
