What was your experience of the mental health system?

Hey everyone,
I just wanted to ask, for anyone who's been through the UK mental health system, what journey did you take in terms of the services you used, and what was your experience of those services?
Thanks in advance for sharing

I can't fairly say how bad my experience was because of course i'd give it a minus 10 I mean they didn't help me at my lowest and I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for the charity
But I know people who have accessed CAMHS and said it wasn't great or was pointless x
I heard a quote a while ago ' the people you meet along the way make the journey worthwhile' and it couldn't be more true, I've gained some amazing friends though the system and inpatient admissions, and it's friends who struggle too and sometimes they give better advice than the professionals cause they've been through it too. That's the main positive of the system.
What else do you want to know?
After that I saw a myriad of other mental health professionals but didn't find that any of them had a large impact. But at least because I was under 18 I could have help readily available for free.
I do have a number of concerns though. 1) the waiting times are pretty long in my area so as I’m on the higher side of the age spectrum I’m worried I might turn 18 and still be waiting, then be at the bottom of an adult waiting list (I know this has happened to some people.) 2) I know people who are using CAMHS and say it’s awful (my counsellor also dislikes it, yes I know that’s confusing) and all they want to do is medicate and misdiagnose you, although I’m not going to base my decision on other people’s opinions. 3) I don’t know if what I would do in CAMHS would interfere with what I do with my counsellor (eg differing opinions,) even though my counsellor says it wouldn’t.
I just think I a diagnosis would give me some peace of mind, as I sometimes just wish I could know what I have is or isn’t.
