I hate myself

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,875,648 The Mix Honorary Guru
I hate myself and I feel like I deserve to feel awful. I want to hurt myself a lot so that I feel in pain all the time. I am a bad person. I made all of my friends hate me and I feel like I have no one to talk to, I'm sorry. I don't deserve to be happy because I make other people sad. I'm sorry for wasting everyone's time.

    Hi Fishbane.

Thank you for talking about this on here it's very brave to try and open up about your feelings. It's definitely understandable that you're feeling so low, self-hatred is a very common issue that a lot of people struggle with. What I will say is you don't sound like a bad person and you're not wasting anyone's time by talking about your feelings, that's what these boards are for!

You also mention that you have thoughts of self-harm which is a very serious issue and I would recommend either talking to your GP about how you're feeling or the Sane mental health helpline http://www.sane.org.uk/what_we_do/support/helpline/ if it's more urgent. You mentioned that you feel like you have no one to talk to, do you have anyone in your life you feel comfortable talking to about all this such as your family members?

    I hope this helps.

I'm sorry. I don't really feel comfortable talking to anyone about this, I find it really hard to tell people about myself. I used to have friends who I could talk to about this but they hate me now. I'm sorry for being useless.

Thanks for responding Fishbane. Don't worry it's very common for people to feel uncomfortable talking about things like this, I'm sorry that you don't feel like you can open up to anyone. Would you find it easier to talk anonymously like you're doing now but with someone more suited to helping you through your problems? There are lots of great resources out there to help you find the best options for you.

Let me know what you think.

I find it easier to talk anonymously so it might help to talk to someone like that. I'm sorry. I feel like I just make everything worse.

If you find it easier to talk anonymously you should try talking to the Sane helpline i mentioned before or even just The Mix one to one chat. The boards are a great place to chat and ask for advice but for more specialised support the one to one chat is a much better resource, you can find more details here http://www.themix.org.uk/get-support/speak-to-our-team

Even if you just need to get things off your chest being able to talk directly to someone can be very helpful and a great way to feel more confident about yourself so that's always an option for you.

Let me know if you need any more support we're always here to help.
