Balancing a full time job with a voluntary charity head of department role

Has anyone done this before? How feasible is it if the full time job is a professional office based job.

I guess it all depends on the time commitment required from the voluntary role and working out a routine that's going to be realistic and not lead to you burning out?
Do you have a sense of the expectations?
