How to deal with DCAs?

Debt collection agencies, that is.
There's a debt that has nothing to do with me. I moved into my current flat in mid February and the debt is for end of January - beginning of February. They were told last week (and EDF were sent a copy of my tenancy) that this debt has nothing to do with me.
I've now been sent another letter asking me to pay this debt that I've already told EDF and LCS that I don't owe.
I actually have the email from EDF acknowledging that I don't owe this debt and I don't need to do anything.
EDF went quiet over this for two months and we assumed this was it. I was then sent a letter last week telling me to act now. My dad then spoke to LCS with my permission and explained the situation.
