Same here. Though there are a few special occasions where they're good too.
I think the key here is only liking them on Nov 5th at properly organised events - and not all the crap of numbskulls throwing fireworks around day and night for a month before and a month after.

I'd love to have gone to a display tonight, but don't know anybody else who wants to go. Boring buggers! And the same to you too Zella & socks - boring buggers!

    Mr_Wobble ;)

I'm a smuggler, its the traditional Lewes costume (striped guernsey jumper in your Bonfire Societys colours, neckerchief, white trousers, red hat with tassel, blacked-up face, truncheon and bangers!).

The comes from the time in the 1800's when they tried to stop the Bonfire Boys celebrating; there was a riot in which hjalf the town hall was burnt out, the local JP's house was firebombed and Lord Salisbury read the riot act on the steps of the (burning) town hall! The next year they tried to stop it with a sizeable detachment from the Met police and there were mass arrests the day after the celebrations so the Bonfire Boys adopted a disguise!
