why are g strings........

called g strings?

this has been puzzling me all morning. I'm sure I'm being thick, but does anyone know?

    Cause it looks like a 'G' but I think 'T' string is better cause it looks like a 'T' from the back Or maybe a 'Y' in some cases :D

    of course they do. all in one means all in one, as opposed to seperate leotard and tights :p

    but G strings. they don't look anything like a G!

    they don't look anything like a G :rolleyes: , more like a T

    although some of mine are like umm...a triangle thing :-\ an eency weency one though :p

    My theory is that the G refers to the gussett (which is such a horrid word!!), that bit that is lined in the seat of your knickers - gussett string? I don't know, but you have got me thinking now!!!

    Thongs. Can;t that word be used to describe strips of leather? like on chokers and stuff? could be related yto that.

    Yup! It is probably quite an old term for them. Its also the name for flip flops in Australia and NZ....

    bust aren't thongs different to g-strings?

    thongs have more material and are chunkier whereas a g-string is literally like a piece of string!
